On the occassion of World Breastfeeding Awareness Week, Department of Community Medicine in collaboration with Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, JIMS Homoeopathic Medical College and Hospital, conducted an awareness session in Anganwadi located at Peddashapur, Shapur Thanda, Alikole Thanda, Yerra kunta Thanda and Nagaram from 6th – 8th August 2026.
The event focused on educating the women of reproductive age group, pregnant and lactating mothers regarding the importance of early initiation of breastfeeding, exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months, correct breastfeeding techniques and the benefits of continued breastfeeding along with complementary feeding after six months. They were also educated about healthy nutrition, personal and hand hygiene, prevention and management of diarrhoeal diseases along with ORS regimen.
The event was attended by ASHA and Anganwadi workers along with the faculty members of JIMS HMCH. The campaign successfully disseminated crucial information and motivated the mothers to adopt healthy lifestyle.
Total number of beneficiaries including women and children were 210.
