World Breastfeeding Week 2025 Celebration at Narasappaguda Village
In commemoration of World Breastfeeding Week 2025, JIMS Homoeopathic Medical College & Hospital organized a comprehensive interdepartmental awareness event at Narasappaguda village. The program was conducted in collaboration with the Anganwadi and Subcenter of PHC Kothur, and was graced by the presence of distinguished guests including Dr. Jhansi, Smt. Shobha Rani, Smt. Lakshmi, and Smt. B. Lakshmi.
Dr. Roja from the Department of OBGY delivered an insightful talk on the importance of breastfeeding, with a special focus on maternal health before, during, and after pregnancy. Dr. Ramyakrishna from the Department of Pediatrics highlighted the significance of World Breastfeeding Week, elaborated on the 2025 theme, and discussed the ongoing pediatric project in collaboration with CCRH and JIMS Hospital. Additionally, Dr. Shravani and Dr. Sumayya, postgraduate doctors from the Department of Pediatrics, educated the audience about recognizing hunger cues in infants.
A group of dedicated NSS volunteers from the final year — Mr. Praveen, Mr. Rajeev, Mr. Pradeep, Mr. Raghunandan, Ms. Vineetha, Ms. Ashritha, Ms. Thamkin, Ms. Soumya, Ms. Priyadarshini, Ms. Tejasvi, and Ms. Yashaswini — actively engaged the community by creating awareness on a wide range of breastfeeding-related topics. These included the benefits of breast milk, common myths and facts, nutritional needs during and after pregnancy, natural galactagogues, burping techniques, breastfeeding positions, and the overall advantages of breastfeeding for both mother and child.
The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Dr. Manasa from the Department of OBGY, who extended gratitude to all the participants, including pregnant and lactating women, the medical and support teams, and the local community for their enthusiastic involvement.
