Theme: “Empowering Nurses, Empowering Mothers: Strengthening Breastfeeding Care”
The Department of Paediatrics, JIMS Homoeopathic Medical College & Hospital conducted awareness and educational activities on 05 August 2026 to promote breastfeeding awareness and strengthen maternal and child healthcare.
A village-level awareness programme was organized at Veljerla for pregnant women, lactating mothers, and children, highlighting the importance of early initiation of breastfeeding, exclusive breastfeeding for 6 months, correct latch, maternal nutrition, and ANC & PNC support.
A Nursing Staff Workshop was conducted at JIMS Hospital to enhance nurses’ knowledge and counseling skills through interactive sessions on breastfeeding techniques, infant hunger cues, breast milk expression & storage, and the importance of breastfeeding support.
Breastfeeding Demonstration Stations were also arranged at the hospital to educate mothers, caregivers, and attendants through practical guidance, ensuring every child receives a healthy start in life.
